Set up Your Mail Flow

The setup steps required depend on where you want Secure Email Threat Defense to be in your mail flow. Complete the steps under the appropriate mode to set up your message source to send and accept email data to/from Secure Email Threat Defense.

Change Your Mail Flow Configuration

When you initially set up Secure Email Threat Defense in Gateway Mode, the default setup is Primary Gateway Mode. You can change this configuration for each domain. To change your configuration:

  1. Go to Configuration > Mail flow configuration > Domains

  2. If the domains list is empty, click Import list to import your domains, or add domains as described in User Added Domains.

  3. Click the domain you want to configure. This takes you to the Domains Settings page, which shows you the current settings.
  4. Click the Edit configuration button to make adjustments to your mail flow. Once you have selected the mail flow you want, click Save.

Mail Flow Modes

The following sections describe each mail flow mode and link to additional instructions for configuring them.

 

Primary Gateway Mode

In this configuration, your mail flows from the Internet, through Secure Email Threat Defense as a gateway, and then delivered to user mailboxes. For details, see Primary Gateway.

Primary with Additional Gateway Mode

In this configuration your mail flows to Secure Email Threat Defense and then to an additional gateway before it is delivered. For details, see Primary Gateway.

Secondary Gateway Mode

In this configuration your mail flow to an additional gateway and then to Secure Email Threat Defense before delivery. For details, see Secondary Gateway.

Gateway Test Mode

In this configuration, route a copy of messages to Secure Email Threat Defense to test policy and reporting settings. This mode will not deliver messages. For details, see Gateway Test Mode
